Creating a Template
Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Custom Boat Kit Template
Step 1: Gather the Necessary Materials
- Customer information sheet
- Masking tape
- Sharp razor or scissors
- Pen, Sharpie marker
- Straightedge (Ruler)
- Clear template material
Step 2: Prepare the Work Area
- Place the boat in a well-lit area
- Ensure the deck is clean and dry
Step 3: Layout and Secure the Template Material
- Unfold the template material and place it on the desired area of the boat deck
- Trim the material as needed to fit the area
- Use masking tape to securely fix the template material in place
Step 4: Record the Key Information
- Write your name, address, boat model/manufacturer on the template
- Indicate the bow and stern orientation, port and starboard sides
- Number each individual part
- Note any hinges, latches, pleats or cutouts that need to be accounted for
- If you want a teak pattern applied, indicate the desired direction (bow to stern)
- If you've chosen a color combination, you can note that as well
Step 5: Draw the Non-Skid Pattern
- Carefully trace the molded non-skid pattern onto the template material
- Take your time, the lines do not need to be perfectly straight (but the better the template is, the easier it will be for us to make the part that fits exactly)
Step 6: Photograph the Completed Template
- Take clear photos of the template on the boat
- Send the photos to support@oceanbroad.com
Follow these steps and you will have successfully created a template for your custom boat kit. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
